It all started with our good friend, Phil John, trying to get us to come out to play sports with him. Phil is also an ex-pat in Germany, and he has done an excellent job getting involved in team sports. In fact, I just signed up for a basketball class at the local university with him where we will just go to play pick up games every Wednesday after work. Anyway, Billy kept turning him down, but stated he would love to play flag football or any sort of American football. Lo and behold, one day Phil meets the quarterback of the Nürnberg Rams and hooks Billy up with him. It turns out that the following Saturday the team is taking down all of their preseason statistics following the off season (40 yd time, mile time, bench press max, etc.), and the following Saturday Billy was up at 7:00am riding his bike 12k to get to the field. After one day of conditioning and one practice, Billy had made the team!!!!
I am just so proud of him, I can barely stand it. He has had two preseason games and practices three times per week. He is supposed to be added to this website in the the next week or so, so keep an eye out for him http://www.nuernberg-rams.com/2011/HTML/A-Team/RosterN.html. He is number 99!!! Go Rams! I am also super stoked because Maggie will be here April 28 through May 9, so not only will we be going to Ireland together, but then we will return to Germany where she will get to watch Billy play. Then in June, my cousin Wes is coming to visit and he will get to watch B as well!!!
out in left field - marching to the beat of our own drum - coloring outside the lines - pushing the envelope...

Die Sau rauslassen
I am waaaaayyyy behind here, but I will do my best with a photo log:
My handsome husband outside of the castle in the city we are beginning to call home...
Celebratory wine after Billy made the football team...
In front of the Pegnitz River in our Nürnberg...
The last Sunday in March, we were invited to a Früschoppen, a German brunch held on Sundays. However our friends explained it as just another reason for Germans to drink. I loved these logs...
Gulash over the open fire...
Frühschoppen!!
The locals...
On April 1st, Mom and Butch arrived from Italy. I was thrilled to show them our home, our cities, and our travel opportunities. We planned to spend one day in Nürnberg/Erlangen, three days in Prague, and one day around Bavaria.
Mom and Butch in front of St. Lorenz Church in Nürnberg.
Our arrival in Prague and first view of the city. Out of all of the amazing things we did and places we saw, this was my favorite. Great views, relaxing park, and a graveyard that was so unique!
This is the graveyard. Each grave was entirely unique.
My favorite place...
Isn't she lovely...
After our experience at Vysehrad, we explored the city, had a brief encounter with a wanna be pic pocket, drank a beer, or two, or three, and continued our search for the Atomic Clock.
I also got to see an exhibition by my beloved (Bro got me into him) Salvador Dali. Not his best stuff, but i almost preferred these works, ALMOST.
Butch was on fashion petrol his entire stay in Europe. The title of this piece by Dali was "Male Model", so I suppose it fit?
Th old atomic clock...
Charles Bridge, no CIA or Tom Cruise sitings; however I couldn't get enough of the jewelry.
The beginning of the end...
The largest castle in the world.
NO trip with Butch is complete without a foot picture.
Billy found someone to take shots with him...
A few fantastic Americans we met. I think we corrupted them, but what do you expect when the four of us run into a group of wonderful homeschooled Americans in an underground Czech bar?
Who did it?
This would be right before Billy flipped an Englishman, I met a guy that was going to UNCC, Butch got carried down the street by a 250lb rugby player... and those are the parts we remember.
Making the best of a rainy, hungover day.
BARBIE!!!!!!!!!!
My love.
Charles Bridge and Butch attempting to find a shortcut (it didn't work).
Good luck...
The absolutely amazing restaurant that we ate at Monday night. Max from Arcadia recommended it, and it was the second favorite part of my trip.
Our breakfast delivered to our room every morning.
The Jewish cemetary. Over 200,000 Jewish people were buried here between mid 1300 and mid 1800. With each travel my eyes are opened to something new, but the one thing that keeps coming up is how persecuted the Jewish people were by ALL people. Words cannot describe awful they were treated.
Budweiser for Buddy!!! The American brewing company copied this Czech beer.
Leaving a city we thoroughly enjoyed...
Out of town :(... but front seats!!!!
In Rothenburg.
Goose got to go on the day trip as well.
Fresh apple juice... you cannot keep me from my fresh juice.
Bavaria's Romantic Road.
Dinkelsbühl bier
The boys...
My mom and I in Nürnberg before our last dinner.
Butch recreating Mom's hand motions... he was a RIOT this night. Billz and I went to bed still laughing with/at him.
Mom recreating her famous hand motions at our last dinner.
Ahhhhhhhhh amazing memories with even more amazing family.
