Amerikan Fußball

It all started with our good friend, Phil John, trying to get us to come out to play sports with him.  Phil is also an ex-pat in Germany, and he has done an excellent job getting involved in team sports.  In fact, I just signed up for a basketball class at the local university with him where we will just go to play pick up games every Wednesday after work.  Anyway, Billy kept turning him down, but stated he would love to play flag football or any sort of American football.  Lo and behold, one day Phil meets the quarterback of the Nürnberg Rams and hooks Billy up with him.  It turns out that the following Saturday the team is taking down all of their preseason statistics following the off season (40 yd time, mile time, bench press max, etc.), and the following Saturday Billy was up at 7:00am riding his bike 12k to get to the field.  After one day of conditioning and one practice, Billy had made the team!!!!

I am just so proud of him, I can barely stand it.  He has had two preseason games and practices three times per week.  He is supposed to be added to this website in the the next week or so, so keep an eye out for him http://www.nuernberg-rams.com/2011/HTML/A-Team/RosterN.html.  He is number 99!!!  Go Rams!  I am also super stoked because Maggie will be here April 28 through May 9, so not only will we be going to Ireland together, but then we will return to Germany where she will get to watch Billy play.  Then in June, my cousin Wes is coming to visit and he will get to watch B as well!!!
