Patty's & Pods

I don’t really have a purpose in mind for this post. I just feel it necessary to post to keep me from slacking. I have also added a movie review section – not that I have the greatest movie taste, but if you find yourself in a town like Lynchburg, VA at least you will have some recommendations.

As for life in Lynchburg, we have a new garden. Actually the woman that Billy does a lot of work for on her rental houses has given us a plot of land on one of her properties to start an organic garden. Therefore we have started our pods in the apartment. B is super excited about his garden.

We have also decided to support all the local farmers, so while our grocery bill has increased, the locals are grateful for our support and our bodies are thanking us for eating more naturally. We can just about take care of our needs at the market every Saturday, but we do need to make one trip to the Fresh Air Natural Foods for some snacks and miscellaneous items.

Brenda Cox, if you are reading this, I desperately need to know how your brother makes those pizzas and baked spaghetti on his site [for those of you reading this… check the foods and the pottery here].

B and I celebrated St. Patty’s Day in our festive T-shirts; although we did decided to go with Canadian Vodka as opposed to Irish Beer… is that bad?

  1. You're a grown up now...you get to celebrate St. Paddy's day with any beverage you want.
Wrote to you on FB re: Tom's recipes. Check it out.
I miss you and your entire family so much. You have all been part of my life for so long. It is hard to believe that you are all grown up and married yourself. But, looks like you and Billy are so suited for one another.
Love you bunches and bunches! Hugs and kisses to the rest of your family.
Keep up the blog...you're doing good!

  2. PS, Tom is coming here next weekend to help Bobby and myself start a little garden here. Bobby will build the boxes (we plan to start with a "contained" garden), and Tom and I will fill the boxes with paper, mulch, topsoil and seeds. Hope we grow something! Hope you have your mom's green thumb!

  3. Hannah,
AHA, you're one of my followers, eh? After Brenda told me about your blog it all clicked for me. Duh. Lynchburg, huh? What's up with that? Over 40 years ago I went to a military school not too far from there. Anyhoo, here's my recipe blog...

The pizza is on there, although the baked spaghetti is not. It's just layered like lasagna, but different. Cooked spaghetti in the bottom of the pan, then a layer of meat sauce, then cheese, cheese and more cheese. I use shredded mozzarella, cheddar and parmesano reggiano. Cook at 350 until it's cooked through, about an hour, but the first half with foil on top. Ain't nothing to it. Tell your mom hey from me. Blessings to both you and Billy.
    Tom
